50. Jar Jar Binks

Major Appearances

  • Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace
  • Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones
  • Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith
  • Clone Wars

Best Moment

There was a moment in The Phantom Menace where it looked like Jar Jar might become the victim of a Gungan hate crime on Tatooine. He didn’t get killed by Sebulba but he was choked out for a little bit — it was a highlight for us all.

Worst Moment

Jar Jar was given power, for some reason, over the decisions that Naboo makes in the senate. This ended up coming into play when Chancellor Palpatine wanted emergency powers and manipulated Jar Jar into voting for it. Jar Jar is the reason the Clone Wars started and plunged the galaxy into darkness.

Breakdown

The bottom of the barrel of any Star Wars list should always include one of the worst things to have ever happened to the franchise. Set aside your George Lucas hate and all of your animosity for both incarnations of Anakin Skywalker because nothing is as awful as Jar Jar Binks.

Jar Jar is the most indefensible thing that has ever happened to Star Wars and nothing will ever change that.

Stay nice and warm with this Star Wars blanket.

Even Hayden Christensen has redeeming qualities — as few or even singular as they may be — whereas Jar Jar is just a heap of garbage. He’s not even a real character, he’s all CGI, so it’s impossible for us to take out or rage on him as we just have to live and let live.
