23. Admiral Thrawn

Major Appearances

  • Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace
  • Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones
  • Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith
  • Clone Wars

Best Moment

Thrawn’s best moment has to be his resurrection of the Empire. He was one of the Emperor’s greatest commanders, and with his boss out of the way, and the fire still burning in his soul to run e the galaxy, Thrawn made a natural enemy for the New Republic and to the universe as a whole. He single handily kept the hear to fate Empire pumping, and his role in the Legends stories likely serves as inspiration for the New Order in The Force Awakens.

Worst Moment

You can only be an evil commander for so long before you just can’t hack it anymore. That was the fatal flaw for the original Empire and Thrawn’s resurrected empire was no different. While he wrecked havoc on the galaxy, his mission was never complete and he was foiled much in the same way that his predecessor was.

Breakdown

While he’s now officially not part of the Lucas canon, Admiral Thrawn will forever hold a special place i the hearts of Star Wars fans.  Whatever happens in The Force Awakens is largely due to Thrawn — a character who refused to let the Empire die and continued on fighting a fight that we all thought was already over.

This R2-D2 speaker will get the party started.

He’s the foundation for that story being told, and he’ll always be an original to fans.
