We rank the 50 best Star Wars characters of all-time
By Josh Hill
10. Lando Calrissian
Major Appearances
- Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back
- Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi
Best Moment
Lando’s best moment has to without a doubt be when he destroyed the Death Star II and helped cripple the Empire. While Darth Vader technically killed the Emperor, it was Lando who helped destroy the space station and officially tripped the Empire’s power. All this from a guy who a film earlier we loathed for selling Han out — how the mighty rise to the occasion.
Worst Moment
You can’t be a smuggler and not have sunk to some serious lows. Landon’s low point had to be when he sold out his old friend Han Solo to the Empire. He was looking out for his own, which is what smugglers do, but selling out his friend was something that we didn’t think he could come back from, especially when it was someone as adored as Han.
Breakdown
There were badasses in the Star Wars galaxy, and then there was Lando Calrissian, the cool side of a cold pillow. He was silky, he was smooth and he was the missing link that completed the circle of friends in the original trilogy. You can’t think about Han, Cloud City or the Rebels without thinking about Lando. He was a smuggler and a swindler, but he was also a hero who helped tumble the Empire.
