23. Boba Fett vs. Nazgul

Who was Boba Fett? Bounty hunter in the employ of the Empire

What were the Nazgul? Ghost kings under the sway of Sauron

Verdict: Both the Empire and Sauron have the direct approach they’re taking to secure their respective victories. Their armies and various weapons of mass destruction represent the bulk of their efforts.

Still, there’s some room in there for a little more discretion. That’s where Boba Fett and the Nazgul fall in.

On their own, they won’t win any battles. But they are able to track down individual targets, specifically the Millennium Falcon and the Hobbits. Which does it with more style, though?

Let’s put it this way: as fearsome as they might be, no one’s dressing up as a Nazgul for Halloween. Boba Fett, on the other hand, became a key figure in the Star Wars universe besides playing what is at best a tertiary role in the original trilogy. He did that by his commando-esque look, cool gadgets and stoic demeanor. Combined, they make a background character pop out and stick in the imagination of fans, perhaps even moreso than more worthy characters.

For that level of recognition, Boba gets it.
