30 Best Star Wars Villains of All-Time
5. Darth Caedus
This guy is one of the most depressing characters in all of Star Wars. He turns to the dark side as he is consumed by a desire to bring peace and order to the galaxy. No, not like Emperor peace and order. Real peace and order. He falls into the trap of trying to use the power of the Sith without becoming truly evil. This fails of course.
What makes Caedus so great is that he is brilliantly manipulated to evil. It’s like what happened to Anakin in Revenge of the Sith, only without the unbelievable plot convenience.
He meets Luniya, who is called the Lady of the Dark Side. She tells him that he will become a Sith by her teaching, and he has visions that if he refuses, the galaxy will collapse in civil war and he will have to kill Luke Skywalker. He begins to round up dissenters by creating the Star Wars version of the Nazi Gestapo. He then sacrifices Luke’s freaking wife to complete his mastery of the Sith power, and he becomes a tyrannical, merciless ruler.
Oh yeah, for those who don’t know, his real name is Jacen Solo, Han and Leia’s son. He eventually is killed by Jaina, his sister. His visions of peace come true with his defeat.
He’s one of the best tragic characters the Star Wars universe can provide. He is also one of the darkest and most cruel villains in the series. There are few characters who’s falls are more tragic, and there’s fewer characters who have a greater impact on the universe. My God, I wish we could have this story in the new movies. I don’t even care how good what J.J. Abrams does is. I love this story.
Okay fine. I do care. Caedus is still one of the best villains though.
