5. Yoda vs. Darth Sidious (Episode III)
While Obi-Wan and Anakin, aka Darth Vader, are duking it out on Mustafar, Yoda ventures to the Senate Chamber to confront Emperor Palpatine. One of the most epic battles in Star Wars follows!
It starts out slow enough with Darth Sidious and Yoda trading insults about the Dark Side, but then it gets real in a hurry! The two are going at it with their lightsabers, and suddenly, the Senate pods are being ripped from the walls and thrown at Yoda.
Somehow, Yoda is able to survive Sidious’ onslaught and even uses his own power against him. Knowing he can’t win and make it out alive, Yoda uses his stealthy powers to sneak out of the Senate Chamber and flees Coruscant.
My only qualm with this fight is that no one dies, which we knew would happen anyway because we know Yoda and Darth Sidious lived. It would have been such a fitting ending for Yoda to kill Palpatine, save the Republic, and yada, yada, yada.
Then again, if that happened, there wouldn’t be any more movies, so I guess it worked out for the best.
