Star Wars: The Force Awakens — Daniel Craig’s Stormtrooper’s Designation Revealed

By now you’ve most likely heard that James Bond himself — Daniel Craig — had an uncredited role in Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Here’s a neat little nod in his character’s name…

J.J. Abrams is one clever fella. He’s proven over and over in many of his films and television series’. Most recently, in The Force Awakens, we’ve seen his cleverness on display with the naming of a Resistance X-Wing pilot — Ello Asty — which was a nod to his former show LOST (L-O-S-T) and Beastie Boys fifth studio-album Hello Nasty. Well, that’s not where the cleverness stopped in The Force Awakens, because thanks to IMDB (which isn’t always reliable because it can be edited by any user), Daniel Craig’s role as a Stormtrooper just got a whole lot more hilarious.

That’s right, Daniel Craig’s First Order Stormtrooper in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, was given the designation JB-007. John Boyega’s character designation as a First Order Stormtrooper was FN-2187, and thanks to Poe Dameron, it was streamlined into Finn. But still, calling the man who is James Bond, JB-007, is just too perfect, and J.J. Abrams should be given an award for cleverness.

Another of the First Order Stormtroopers is getting a little bit of internet fame and love. The riot-control trooper who called Finn a traitor before clashing: Lightsaber vs Electroblade, has his own meme as TR-8R. Obviously this is a hilarious call to what he shouts at Finn, and I don’t know that Abrams designated him as this, because after some digging, I could not find any kind of confirmed proof, but it is quite funny.
