Star Wars: The Force Awakens — One Dad’s Theory Could Change Everything

After seeing Star Wars: The Force Awakens, what are some of your favorite theories coming from the film? This dad may have unlocked the secret to the new trilogy. Obviously, SPOILERS ahead…

We’ve all been there…you see a film that you really love, and you obsess over and over about the events that happened in said film. You formulate theories based on clues that sometimes seem obscure, and other times, these clues seem to be right out in the open for everyone to see. One of the biggest mysteries from Star Wars: The Force Awakens, is Kylo Ren. What are his true motives? Why did he kill his father, Han Solo? Well, one father and daughter think they have it all figured out.

Tumblr user Murphcooper lays it all out, in all caps and and plethora of exclamation points…which if my dad had come up with this theory, I might have typed it up exactly like she does.

Okay, at first I immediately laughed this off. Why would Kylo Ren nee-Ben Solo kill his own father just to kill Snoke? Then, I started to think…what if Luke and Ben Solo had planned this all along? *GASP*

Ah, so Kylo Ren talks to Vader’s helmet because that’s the only Skywalker relic he can get his hands on? Is that why he freaked out when Anakin/Luke’s lightsaber went to Rey and not him? Maybe…just maybe Kylo Ren is a deep-cover Jedi spy, doing whatever it takes to bring down the most powerful Dark Side being in the galaxy. **DOUBLE GASP**

It did seem as if Kylo Ren recognized Rey, during their fight on Starkiller planet. But, why didn’t he say that he knew her when he was interrogating her? Did he recognize her then? There are a couple of points to talk about here:

1 — Kylo’s fighting style is raw and barbaric, and therefore not like a Sith or Jedi. He continually had to punch the wound caused by Chewbacca’s bowcaster, in order to channel the rage and power only given to him from the Dark Side. A true and trained Sith would never need to wound himself, just to tap into the power of the Dark Side.

2 — During Rey’s Force Vision, she saw a man in a weird hat, swinging what looked like some sort of club at her or another person on the ground, before Kylo Ren’s lightsaber blooms from his chest. Did Kylo save little Rey at Luke’s Jedi Temple? Is this astute father correct about the staging of the massacre? ***TRIPLE GASP***

So, if this theory holds true, then Han knew what Ben was doing — undercover as Kylo Ren — when he confronted him on the bridge. Perhaps Han was trying to get his son to just come home and stop trying to takedown Snoke on his own. Maybe this is why Han and Leia are no longer together, because Han did not want his son to be given over to a Dark Lord of the Dark Side in Supreme Leader Snoke, and he and Leia’s marriage fractured because of this disagreement. Remember, both Han and Leia knew Snoke’s name and said it a couple of times in The Force Awakens.

This may also explain why Kylo Ren did not recognize Rey until their battle on Starkiller planet. Maybe, when he saw his Grandfather/Uncle’s Lightsaber fly forcefully past him into the waiting hands of the girl he had previously ignored, then he remembered her, and knew who she was. This all makes a ton of sense, especially if Rey is Luke’s daughter, as the Skywalker familial Lightsaber recognized the Light and flew to the one family member who could wield it in the power of the Light Side of the Force.

One other caveat: Look at the official Star Wars: The Force Awakens poster, where Rey and Kylo Ren are positioned. Looks like they are side by side, facing an unseen power…the Dark Side, and the Light.

****QUADRUPLE GASP****
