These are the early days of the rebellion, when they still have gear in decent shape, and aren’t as afraid to be somewhat out in the open.
One of the things that strikes me about the Rebel base here is that they’ve against worked hard to get that dirty, gritty look from the original movies–but not as dirty and gritty. The helmets are cleaner for one–the outfits are nicer. We’re definitely supposed to be in between the prequels and the originals–and this is the first time we’ve seen Disney dare to attempt to visually tie back to the prequels at all.
