Alden Ehrenreich Reported Frontrunner For Han Solo Film

After a few weeks of silence on the front for the hunt of a young Han Solo, a new actor has seemingly emerged out of nowhere, and his name is Alden Ehrenreich…

If you aren’t familiar with Alden Ehrenreich, that’s okay, because he’s not one of those high-profile hollywood names that was tossed around a few weeks ago, when the list for young Han Solo was presumably narrowed down. Now, according to Deadline, after many screen-tests, the young (26) actor has emerged ahead of much more popular actors like Taron Egerton (Kingsman) and Miles Teller (Fantastic 4), and overwhelming fan favorite Anthony Ingruber (Age of Adaline).

However, if you’re worried about Ehrenreich’s acting chops, don’t, because here’s what Deadline had to say on the matter:

"“The newcomer is also the lead in Warren Beatty’s yet untitled “Howard Hughes project” which will receive a fall release from Fox this year. The 26 year-old actor also gave a stand-out performance this year in Hail, Caesar!”"

The as-yet-titled young Han Solo film, which Disney has set for release on May 25th, 2018 — which could be subject to change — is being directed The Lego Movie team of by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller…which should bring that special brand of humor and snark, that a Han Solo smartass, fast-talking film needs.

According to Disney/Lucasfilm, the picture will focus on Han Solo’s days before he became a hero in the rebel alliance. Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy is of course producing. Lawrence Kasdan is executive producing (which is an amazing thing for Star Wars fans) with Jason McGatlin. Kasdan is a legendary writer, who wrote Star Wars Episode V:The Empire Strikes Back, Star Wars Episode VI: Return Of The Jedi and Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens (with J.J. Abrams). Kasdan will be joined on the Han Solo film with his son, Jon Kasdan.
