During a recent earnings call, EA’s chief financial officer Blake Jorgensen confirmed that the company intends to release a new Star Wars game every year from 2017 going forward, for at least the next three to four years…
PC Gamer is reporting that Star Wars Battlefront game will be released as soon as 2017, which is a bit of a shock, since until now, it was literally on no one’s radar. EA’s Jorgensen had this to say:
"“Next year we’ll see Star Wars Battlefront back with bigger and better worlds, because we now have the new movies to work off [and] not just the historical movies that we used before.”"
As mentioned, this comes as a bit of a surprise, as not only was the game not on the radar of any video game insiders, but the first offering has met with loads of mixed reviews.
For the game to truly shed the flaws of the original, a sequel is needed. As in the video above, even the most hardcore of gamers tried and tried to give the game a chance, but just were too frustrated with EA’s lack of content and detail to the player’s wants and needs.
Many fans have lamented the fact that there have been no single person missions and story-modes, and that certain hero-type weapons were nerfed because of outcry from the community. All in all, after playing the game myself, I’d say Star Wars Battlefront has been a success on every front. It came out at a time when Star Wars: The Force Awakens was about to hit theaters worldwide, and the market was ready for a Star Wars blitz.
PC Gamer does mention another unnamed Star Wars game in development, that we should be looking forward to, which is in development at Respawn, the studio responsible for Titanfall.
Next: Is A Star Wars: Battlefront Sequel Coming In 2017?
Regardless, I for one am ready for an all new Star Wars Battlefront, with all new characters from the new Star Wars films, like Rogue One, The Force Awakens, and possibly Star Wars: Episode VIII (TBD).
