Watch: Star Wars Fan Film — Exile: Episode 1

A new Star Wars fan film has burst onto the scene, and it’s making major waves on YouTube. The maker of the film reached out to Dork Side of the Force to review his film…

Filmmaker Noel Braham has created what we believe to be one of the better Star Wars fan made films we’ve seen in quite some time. But we won’t try and convince you of that, watch it for yourself, and you be the judge.

"“Jedi around the galaxy are being viciously hunted and killed by the evil Galactic Empire. Aware of the imminent danger, Jedi Master Boemana Tora and her Padawan Makal Lori, flee to the outer rim systems close to the planet of Lothal.”"

Right from the start, I love that Jedi Master Quinlan Vos (one of my favorites from The Clone Wars) and possibly an AsaJJ Ventress hybrid Jedi character were in the forest, fighting the stormtroopers, Boba Fett, and that sadistic Sith Inquisitor. I also loved that there was a twist at the end of the first chapter — before the crawl — with Darth Vader showing up.

The action sequences, and lightsaber CGI was excellent, and not something you would expect from your average fan film, which serves to set Exile apart from the rest.

The dialogue between Jedi Master Boemana Tora and her Padawan Makal Lori was crisp and kept the story moving, without getting bogged down in some unnecessary filler talk. At first, I did find the love angle a bit strange, but the twist at the end of the film, explained it perfectly.

For me, Exile: Episode 1 gets a 5 out of 5 stars and I would highly recommend this film to anyone looking to fill that time between now and December when Rogue One hits screens…which if you were paying attention, Exile ties into, by sending Makal Lori to find Kanan from Star Wars Rebels, on the planet Lothal. This would all be happening during the same time period.  Just another reason to love this film.
