Star Wars: Episode VIII Shooting Wraps Up In Ireland

The stars are heading home as Star Wars: Episode VIII wraps its shoot in Ireland.

It’s a wrap in Ireland. Judging by their social media posts, Daisy Ridley, Mark Hamill, Rian Johnson, and the rest have left the green hills of Skellig Michael, Malin Head, and Ceann Sibeal behind, and we know for sure Daisy and Rian are back in London, perhaps prepping for more filming at Pinewood Studios.

Below is Daisy’s Instagram post in which she announced she was home in London.

And this morning, director Rian Johnson posted this photo to Twitter with the caption, “awwwwww London.”

Mark hasn’t indicated if he’s returned to London, but this photo of him and his dog Millie was posted to Twitter by the Mark Hamill France fanpage.

This may or may not mean he’s in France, but we at least know he’s out of Ireland because of the following tweet Mark made a few days ago.

"“How I will miss IRELAND! Its’ Beauty-Its’ People-It’s…Snack Food”"

Only you would make missing Ireland into something funny, Mark.

It feels like Episode VIII has been in Ireland for a long time, but the feeling of longevity may be due to earlier shoots on the island of Skellig Michael and then, later, a two-week shoot in Ireland proper. But it seems they got a lot done, including scenes filmed with the Millennium Falcon and the Knights of Ren. In addition to Daisy and Mark, Adam Driver and either Peter Mayhew or Joonas Suotamo (or both) were also there to reprise their roles as Kylo Ren and Chewbacca, respectively.
