This week’s Star Wars Show has just aired on StarWars.com, and this episode was a little more exciting that previous weeks, as Kevin Smith stopped by to talk Rogue One, and fan reactions to the second trailer for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story were shown.

"“It feels like Rogue One has that kind of melancholy that…um, Empire ending had, running throughout a whole movie.”"

As you can see, one of the highlights of this week’s Star Wars Show, was Kevin Smith stopping by the set to talk Rogue One. As a self-proclaimed Super Nerd, Smith breaks down the feeling that the second trailer for Rogue One had.

I agree with him, Rogue One definitely has that Empire Strikes Back feel to it…and we’ve only seen two trailers for the film, thus far. It would appear as if director Gareth Edwards has tapped into the feel that the Original Trilogy exuded in spades: Dark and gritty storytelling, with the slimmest hope of a happy ending.

Of course, the best part of the show had to be the fan reactions to the second Rogue One trailer. I feel like, when I’m watching these Star Wars fans react to the trailer, that I am every one of them, all at once.

From the emotions that the music elicited, to the shot of the Star Destroyer coming out of the shadows. From the Death Star eclipse, X-wings flying a night mission, and Baze Malbus firing a rocket into the AT-ACT. From Jyn Erso coming face-to-face with the TIE Fighter, and of course, to Darth Vader’s cameo in the final frame — the second Rogue One trailer had it all.
