Daisy Ridley Thinks The Episode VIII Title Won’t Be Revealed For “A While”

In an interview with the podcast My Dad Wrote A Porno, Daisy Ridley said she didn’t think the title for Star Wars: Episode VIII would be revealed for “a while.”

Star Wars: Episode VIII has a title. Or at least, it had one. Daisy Ridley, who plays Rey in the sequel trilogy, heard a title at the beginning of production. But she thinks what she heard has changed since then, and she also doesn’t think the official title will be revealed for some time yet.

Ridley discussed what she knows (and doesn’t know) about the Episode VIII title with the hosts of My Dad Wrote A Porno, a comedy podcast (via Furious Fanboys).

"“I heard a title, but I don’t know if it’s going to be that. I really don’t know much about anything. I heard the title a long time ago before we started filming, and so I feel some things have slightly tweaked during production. It’s going to be a while before it’s released I imagine.”It comes as no surprise Episode VIII‘s official title has undergone changes since initial production in early 2016. The title is probably the easiest thing about a movie to change, at least until marketing steps in to create logos, posters, and the like. Even after marketing takes over, the title of a movie can still be changed, as we learned when Revenge of the Jedi was switched out with Return of the Jedi in 1983.More from Dork Side of the ForceDaniel José Older named a High Republic Adventures character after someone specialHow animation changed Star Wars: Ewoks and DroidsKelleran Beq comes to Star Wars: Galaxy of HeroesThe Mandalorian’s Pedro Pascal becomes No. 1 on IMDb’s Starmeter for 2023Unwrapping the Star Wars LEGO Advent Calendar: Day 7Unfortunately, we learned little regarding when the official title of Episode VIII will be revealed. “A while” could mean any time period from a month or two to several months. Neither prediction may be right, however, because Ridley only said she imagined it would be a while before the title was revealed. She’s not part of the post-production process, so she may not know the reveal date before it is already upon us. It could happen tomorrow, and she would find out the title of Episode VIII along with the rest of us.So when can we expect to know Episode VIII‘s title? Based on the reveal of The Force Awakens‘s title in November 2014, a little over a year out from the film’s theater premiere, I think a title reveal for Episode VIII this fall is a safe bet. Other possibilities are the title being revealed as part of a short teaser in front of Rogue One in December. Alternatively, Disney and Lucasfilm may wait till 2017 to reveal anything major about Episode VIII, so as not to distract from their first live action theatrical standalone Star Wars film.Next: Star Wars Funnies: BB-8 GateWhen do you think we will find out the title for Star Wars: Episode VIII?
