Gorgeous new shots, a focus on individual characters, and poignant dialogue distinguish the latest Rogue One: A Star Wars Story television spot.

The latest television spot for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is the best one yet.

Gorgeous shots, intimate individual character moments, and a new line from Cassian Andor distinguish “Hope Begins” from all the other tv spots we’ve seen so far.

Judge it for yourself below.

Let’s analyze the new content. First, there are a couple of wide shots which are new. And they are stunning.

The first new wide shot looks like it’s from Yavin IV, judging by the Massassi Temples in the background.

The second wide shot is of Rebel Alliance X-wings taking off from their Yavin IV base and flying towards the planet their moon orbits, Yavin.

The best parts of the new television spot, however, are the character moments. First is a new scene in which Chirrut Imwe catches his staff when someone throws it to him; an impressive feat for a blind man.

Next is a new shot of Mon Mothma, looking proudly into the sky.

In the next new character-focused sequence, Cassian Andor tells someone off-camera, “I could not face myself if I give up now.”

Finally, in a touching scene, Jyn Erso grabs Baze Malgus’s hand as if to comfort, bolster, or thank him.

I love how this movie is shaping up. First, the character moments are so true-to-life. Second, there is a George Lucas-esque artistic vision to Rogue One that I’m glad to see put to use again. Rogue One is both modern and special effects-heavy like Revenge of the Sith and homey and nostalgic like A New Hope. It is the perfect bridge between the saga and a new era of Star Wars standalone movies.
