X-Wings are going to be all over Rogue One and you should be excited by this! Remember, it was the Rebel Alliance Starfighter Corp’s Red Squadron that Luke Skywalker flew Red Five in to score the critical hit on the Death Star’s thermal exhaust port.

And, none of this would be possible if Jyn Erso’s group of rebels hadn’t stolen the plans to the Death Star. So, having the X-Wings fly support in several missions throughout the film, both in atmospheric battles and in space, makes complete sense, and we cannot wait to see it happen.
