Rogue One will not have an opening crawl because it is not part of the Star Wars saga, plain and simple. The first 15 minutes of Rogue One was shown to a select few journalists last week and they began to share their experiences. By this, we got confirmation that indeed, there would be no opening crawl in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.

Apparently, there the first few words of that classic crawl will, in fact, appear on screen, “A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away…” and then the screen cuts away to Orson Krennic’s shuttle flying to a remote location where the Erso family is living, and the film begins. And that, dear Star Wars fans, is how the film begins.
