Numa was instrumental in helping the Republic free her world, Ryloth, from Separatist occupation. Small and young as she was, she befriended two clone troopers and showed them the tunnels underneath Ryloth’s surface. Obi-Wan Kenobi used this geographical advantage to confront the droid army. But Numa was brave beyond just being helpful. She stood resolutely with Kenobi as he was about to be shot down by a Separatist tank. Fortunately, her native Twi’lek people intervened and Kenobi, Numa, and Ryloth were saved.
But Numa’s fight against tyranny was not over. Years later, after the Republic had become the Empire, Numa joined the Free Ryloth Movement led by Cham Syndulla. She became one of his lead lieutenants and helped lead sabotage missions against the Empire.
Most of the time, we don’t see how rebels in Star Wars become rebels. Numa shows that anyone of any age and gender can help with an important cause.
