15. Satine Kryze

Duchess Satine Kryze’s convictions lie in a concept entirely alien to Sloane’s ideals: pacifism. Kryze’s insistence upon her world remaining neutral during the Clone Wars is ironic, almost laughable. That’s because her world is the traditionally war-torn Mandalore.
Because of her attempts to make Mandalore a pacifist world, Satine was targeted by the Mandalorian Death Watch. Several attempts were made on her life, and Satine survived them all. But she was finally flummoxed when Death Watch overthrew her government with the help of Darth Maul. A prisoner of Maul, Satine became bait for Maul’s arch enemy, Obi-Wan Kenobi.
It’s sad that Satine had to die to further someone else’s character. To gain revenge on Obi-Wan, Satine’s former lover, Maul ran the duchess through with his lightsaber. Sure, the way Obi-Wan handled her death proved that a Jedi could love someone and not go to the dark side after losing her. But the end result was the loss of a strong, wise character who could have had a lot more stories told about her. Obi-Wan would agree that Satine’s death was unnecessary and unfair. That’s one reason we’re celebrating her at number 15 on our list.
