12. Sabine Wren

Sabine Wren melds girliness with toughness without any of the commercial fakery. Her armor is pink, her hair is a new color every season, and art is her favorite form of terrorism. Everything about her says you can still have fun in life and be a badass Star Wars heroine, too.

Sabine is not just what you see at face value, though that might be enough (she looks pretty cool). First, she’s a Mandalorian. And not just any Mandalorian; her family is part of House Viszla, which headed Death Watch during the Clone Wars. Sabine is also an Imperial defector. She was attending an Imperial military academy when she decided to become a rebel.

We don’t know how she fell in with Hera Syndulla and Kanan Jarrus. But by the time the events in Star Wars Rebels take place, she is a thoughtful leader and strategian.  She also puts her artistic side to practical use against the Empire in creating beautiful explosions.

Sabine’s story will expand further in Star Wars Rebels season 3B. In season 3A’s finale, the young rebel discovered the darksaber, a Mandalorian lightsaber with a black blade. She is certainly wise enough to use it. With her creative mind and the authority of the darksaber, Sabine is unstoppable. Who says pink makes you weak?
