Hera Syndulla is the first non-human aside from Ahsoka Tano in The Clone Wars to be a main character. She is also the first on-screen Twi’lek not skimpily dressed. But the main thing is she is a sensible, take-charge person with an altruistic desire to aid the people of the galaxy.

Hera was brought up as a rebel. Her father, Cham Syndulla, is the leader of the Free Ryloth Movement against the rebellion. For reasons unknown, Hera chose to go off on her own in her ship, The Ghost, and rebel where she felt she was needed. Along the way, she formed her own crew with Kanan Jarrus, Zeb Orrelios, Sabine Wren, and Ezra Bridger. Due to their close friendship and Kanan’s initial flirtation upon meeting Hera, many fans speculate the captain and the Jedi Knight are in love. Whatever their true feelings for one another, they keep them well-hidden for the good of their cause.

Because Hera is important to the rebellion. And not just toThe Ghost crew’s personal resistance on Lothal. With the help of Ahsoka Tano, Hera, and her comrades join a larger rebel fleet which will eventually merge with the Rebel Alliance. And Hera is completely on board with a larger, more organized resistance. Moreover, she inspires those around her to be just as self-sacrificing and dedicated to fighting the Empire as herself. She truly believes in hope and helping the galaxy break free from the Emperor’s tyrannical hold. Her steadfastness and military expertise earn her the rank of general in the Alliance, and also the rank of 10 in our list.
