#4. Darth Bane

Darth Bane was one of the most powerful Sith Lords of all-time. He was the only Sith to survive the Sith-Jedi War. But this wasn’t Bane’s biggest accomplishment. Darth Bane laid the groundwork for the Sith that would last for over a thousand-years.

Darth Bane was the author of the Rule of Two. Bane felt the need to establish this Rule because his fellow Sith Lords kept killing each over their lust for power. He became convinced that the Sith actions would lead to their own undoing. The Rule of Two states: only two Sith Lords could exist at any given time. A master to hold the power, and an apprentice to crave it.

But the Rule of Two didn’t last as long as Bane hoped. The redeem Jedi Knight Anakin Skywalker ended the Rule by defeating Darth Sidious, which also ended the life of Skywalker himself. The Rule of Two had many benefits and many flaws, and this was one of them.
