17. Obi Wan’s warning revealed

Episode: Season 1 Pilot: Spark of the Rebellion

The Moment: After rescuing the Wookiees from the Empire on Kessel, the Ghost crew returns to their ship. Kanan retreats to his quarters and meditates using his Jedi Holocron. Obi-Wan Kenobi appears via hologram in a pre-recorded message that was the original warning to the Jedi during Order 66. The transmission ends with Kenobi saying for any surviving Jedi to trust in the Force.

Why It’s Memorable: Obi-Wan! The high ground Jedi master in full-effect. They even got the voice actor, John Arnold Taylor from the Clone Wars animated series, to voice Kenobi for this moment. For the first time, we see the coded retreat message that is alluded to in Revenge of the Sith.

Listening to Kenobi’s message gave me major feels. In the message, he states that faith and friendships will be tested. Keep in mind that Kenobi recorded this right before he confronted Anakin aka the newly appointed Darth Vader on Mustafar. The message then ends with Kenobi saying the iconic “The Force will be with you. Always.” Those happen to be the last lines he speaks to Luke in A New Hope before he dies at the hands of Vader.

It was also the first time a Holocron of any kind was seen in the new canon. This is the very Holocron that Kanan’s deceased Master Depa Bilaba gave him before she was killed during Order 66. We know that Holocrons contain a wealth of knowledge, training, recordings, and apparently, the coolest Jedi Master to ever walk the Galaxy.
