Luke, Leia and Han will visit Jedha in new Marvel Star Wars comic
An all-new Marvel Star Wars comic will see the original trilogy heroes visiting the planet Jedha from Rogue One…
If you thought you’d seen the last of the planet Jedha from Rogue One: A Star Wars Story then you were wrong, as the Marvel Star Wars team from the Darth Vader and Doctor Aphra series is taking the original trilogy heroes — Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia and Han Solo — to the planet to search for Force sensitive artifacts.
StarWars.com first broke the news that Kieron Gillen and Salvador Larocca will take over the main Marvel Star Wars title beginning this fall, with issue #38. Gillen explained what we’ll see when our heroes do make it to Jedha.
"First up: the post-apocalyptic hell that remains of Jedha after the Death Star punched a hole through its mantle."
Issue #38 will pick up between A New Hope and The Empire Strikes Back, which will see David Marquez’s amazing art gracing the cover.
That art depicts a much different looking Luke Skywalker. He’s wearing the white robes of a Jedi, and his belt looks like the one he’s wearing at the end of The Force Awakens. Is this the early stages of older Luke’s clothing in the sequel trilogy?
Gillen expounded on the story to ABC News:
"Luke is desperately seeking the Force and of course, it’s one of the holiest cities in the universe, and it’s been blown up. The key image is Luke standing in the hole where the Death Star blew it."
Indeed, that cover art makes for a striking image, especially knowing that Jedha, before its destruction, was the home of a Jedi Temple where the Guardians of the Whills — Baze and Chirrut — once protected.
