35. Clone training on Kamino

Episode:  Season 3 Episode 1: Clone Cadets

"Episode Summary: Five headstrong clones struggle to complete their training on Kamino. These cadets — Hevy, Cutup, Droidbait, Fives and Echo — seem to be a “bad batch” and are unable to work as a team. As Shaak Ti and drill instructors Bric and El-Les debate the cadets’ fate, the clones learn to work together and accept their destiny as soldiers."

The Moment: The formation of Domino Squad, which later becomes one of the top ARC trooper units in the Republic, begin their training on the isolated planet of Kamino. Jedi Master Shaak Ti oversees their extensive training, with the assistance of two bounty hunters. With major challenges during their final evaluations, Domino Squadron rises above their trials and prove why they become the best of the best later on.

Why It’s Memorable: 99’s. That two digit number is enough to bring the tears back( we will learn why later on). The introduction of the failed and aged clone is one that will stay with us forever.  Even though he never had the chance to be a soldier due to his defects, he brings out the best in these shinnies, inspiring them to pass their trials when they are doubted and faced with adversity.

This group of five clones later becomes a major staple within the Clone Wars series, where we empathize with their triumphs, failures, tragedies, and intense battles spread-out for the six seasons of the show.
