32. Boba Fett seeks vengeance

Episode:  Season 2 Episode 20: Death Trap

"Episode Summary: Determined to kill Jedi Master Mace Windu, young Boba Fett poses as a clone cadet and sneaks aboard a Jedi cruiser to plant a bomb in Windu’s quarters. But Boba’s plan goes awry when the blast fails to kill Mace and, suddenly, every clone aboard is looking for the saboteur. Boba destroys the ship’s reactor to create a distraction and, soon, the entire cruiser begins to break apart. Unaware that Boba is the culprit, Boba’s new cadet comrades save his life but is he too obsessed with revenge to do the same for them?"

The Moment: Even while “undercover” Boba displays his own skills in combat when put to the test. Even though Boba misses his chance at killing Windu, another opportunity will present itself later on.

Why It’s Memorable: He’s back! Earlier we discussed another encounter involving these two adversaries, with this one taking place well before those events.

Boba is put in a situation where he has to betray his brothers in order exact revenge, even though he is hesitant to put them in harm’s way. This shows that the young clone does have a sense of honor, but his blood thirst for Windu outweighs his conscience. This also shows the development of that very code of honor that he later officially implements, one of justice, but of also fairness as well.

However; Boba sees himself as superior to the other clones, since he’s not only an unmodified version of the original host, but also spent valuable time with the now deceased Jango Fett. That later comes into play when Boba is older, when he develops a superiority complex even among fellow bounty hunters. Darth Vader does take notice of Boba and his skills, so maybe his views of himself are warranted.
