31. Duchess Satine and Obi-Wan have a complicated past

Episode:  Season 2 Episode 13: Voyage of Temptation

"Episode Summary: Duchess Satine travels from Mandalore to Coruscant on a diplomatic mission, with Obi-Wan Kenobi, Anakin Skywalker and a team of troopers to defend her. As her luxurious star-ship, Coronet, makes its way through hyperspace, the Jedi must stop several assassination attempts, and Anakin discovers that Obi-Wan and the Duchess have a history together."

The Moment: Kenobi reunites with his former lover, the one who he almost gave up his Jedi vows for during his Padawan days when Satine travels to Coruscant.

Why It’s Memorable: I love how Anakin teases Obi-Wan about Satine, Kenobi’s former lover, after he hears the news of their past. It’s a nice throwback to when Obi-Wan is telling Anakin to relax in Attack of the Clones, giving him heat, for having the same feelings. Such a cool moment and connection there!

I also love the playful “hate” Obi-Wan and Satine give one another for their differing views on war and politics. We all know that they are just teasing and flirting with one another. We see you working there, Obi-Wan!

One thing that is displayed by Kenobi is his true heart as a Jedi. No matter how much pain he takes or no matter what situation he is in, he always puts the interests of the Jedi first.

He forsake a relationship with his lover, Satine. He doesn’t allow anger to control him when Maul terrorizes him for years and years, even after the Clone Wars. In-fact, he ends up showing pity and remorse to the man when they meet again many years after the Clone Wars. Kenobi even fights and defeats Anakin on Mustafar, choosing his Jedi duty over his friendship. That is displayed in this moment and story arc as well.
