24. Onderon sparks the early movement of the Rebel Alliance

Episode:  Season 5 Episodes 3-5: Front Runners, Soft War, & Tipping Points 

"Episode Summary: Supervised by Ahsoka, the Onderon rebels infiltrate the capital and carry out a series of strikes on targets throughout the city. As the Separatist-aligned king comes under increasing pressure to deal with the growing rebellion, the rebels choose a new leader. After a rebel attempt to rescue Onderon’s true king, Ramsis Dendup, an unexpected ally steps forward to halt Dendup’s execution and aid the rebel cause. As a full-scale revolt embroils Onderon, the rebels strike a decisive blow against the planet’s Separatist-aligned king. Unfortunately for the rebels, such victory comes at a high price."

The Moment: Saw Gerrera, the leader of this insurgent group on Onderon, suffers a great loss when his sister dies during this conflict with Separatist forces when Ahsoka’s attempt in rescuing her fails.

Why It’s Memorable: The formation of the early Rebel Alliance. Saw and his band of rebel start their rebellion against the Separatists, then later against the Empire, who both are trying to occupy the planet at one time or another.

The death of Stella turns Saw from a brave freedom fighter, into a ruthless insurgent when we see him again in Rebels and Rogue One. Once again like Anakin, good intentions can often lead to tragedy and darkness.
