13. Maul & Savage form an alliance with Deathwatch

Episode:  Season 5 Episode 14-15: Eminence & Shades of Reason 

"Episode Summary: Savage and Maul forge an alliance with Death Watch to target a common enemy: Obi-Wan Kenobi. Backed by the criminal underworld, the Sith and Death Watch launch an attack on Mandalore."

The Moment: Maul and Savage slowly and surely begin gaining power underground through a vast number of criminal networks, then form an alliance with the Death Watch who is an exiled group from Mandalore.

Why It’s Memorable: This episode had Game of Thrones vibes all throughout it. So much betrayal, conquest, and just plain savagery. Maul knows what it takes to accomplish that task, being trained by the most powerful being in the galaxy in Darth Sidious. Now Maul is the one who is playing the role as mastermind and leader, and he is quite good enough, to the point of gaining his former Master’s attention, which we will see later.

Going back to Mandalore and seeing the Death Watch, pupated by Maul, brainwashing the planet is a good reminder to always keep your guard up with what’s going on in your culture.

Maul also puts Savage in his plays and reminds him that he is the Master and that Savage is the learner. When things begin to take form, Maul declares himself the true Lords of the Sith, which he finds out later, is a vain utterance.
