8. Maul’s victory is short-lived
Episode: Season 5 Episode 16: The Lawless
"Episode Summary: Using Duchess Satine as bait, Darth Maul lures Obi-Wan into a trap."
The Moment: Maul vs Pre-Vizla. Maul and Savage vs. Darth Sidious. Enough said.
Why It’s Memorable: So much action and so many gems in this episode, creating multiple epic moments. Maul defeats Pre Vizla, who carries the Dark-saber, an ancient Mandalorian weapon with Jedi roots, until Maul overpowers him, beheads him, then takes the mantle as Mandalore as his prize. This isn’t your typical Saturday morning cartoon, folks!
The Dark-saber has a rich and deep history, all the way back about 1,000 years. The Jedi and Mandalorians have a heated rivalry in their past, to say the least. The Dark-saber, forged by Tarre Visla, has been a weapon that the Jedi and Mandalorians have fought over for years and years.Whoever takes possession of the ancient weapon by besting its previous owner in combat, which Maul does, the other Mandalorians will follow that person as their leader.
Maul then uses the weapon to exact his revenge on Obi-Wan, who was taken prisoner along with his former lover Satine, and Maul kills her in front of the Jedi Master, displaying one of the saddest moments in Star Wars history.

Maul takes on his former Master, Darth Sidious, and gets completely owned. Not only does he get zapped by Force lightning, but his brother is killed by the Sith Lord right in front of the helpless Maul. The Zabrack’s plans of taking over the galaxy are ruined and the reestablishment of his family roots receives the same fate.
The ironic part is that Sidious travels to Mandalore with Maul’s own (former ship) the Sith Infiltrator the Schmitar, another slap in the face of Maul and painful reminder of what he lost during the duel against Kenobi, which was more than his legs, to be certain.
