45. R2-D2 is kidnapped by bounty hunter Cad Bane

Episode:  Season 3 Episode 8: Evil Plans

"Episode Summary:  In the middle of a routine shopping trip on Coruscant, C-3PO is abducted by the bounty hunter Cad Bane. Bane is looking for information about the Senate building on behalf of Jabba the Hutt. Finding C-3PO devoid of useful information, Bane and his accomplices kidnap R2-D2 and extract the vital data, before memory-wiping the droids of the incident, and letting them on their way. The floor-plans and security details of the Senate building are part of a plot engineered by the Hutt families to free their imprisoned brother, Ziro the Hutt, who holds potentially damaging information about Hutt activities."

The Moment: Bounty hunter Cad Bane kidnaps R2 and 3PO, as just another payday. The Jedi are spread thin throughout the galaxy, allowing the Hutts and bounty hunters to easily run wild throughout the galaxy.

Why It’s Memorable: Boba Fett, step aside. There is a better bounty hunter roaming the galaxy. That’s right, I said it. Anytime the blue Duros shows up, the stakes are always high. What other bounty hunter is able stand toe to toe with Jedi ( and even kill them), as well as gain the trust of Darth Sidious?

This time Bane is contracted out by Jabba the Hutt, showing that he will do anything for a pay day. This episode displays the ruthlessness of Bane and that he will go to extreme measures to complete each task.

The two beloved droids! Anytime R2 and 3PO show up I get them feels galore. I love how Lucasfilm writers also tease at the fact that 3PO is clueless and always having his memory erased, while on the flip-side, R2 always knows what’s up and always keeps his memory intact, even up to the time of The Last Jedi.
