Yahoo shares new photo of Rey, and Rian Johnson tweets about The Last Jedi

As we near September 1, and Force Friday, more news and information regarding The Last Jedi is surfacing…

Yahoo news recently revealed its “50 movies we’re excited to see” piece and, of course, Star Wars: The Last Jedi made the list at #1. Along with a brief caption, Yahoo revealed an exclusive new photo of Daisy Ridley as Rey in the film.

As you can see, the photo shows Rey appearing to practice her training on the ocean world of Ahch-To. She’s still rocking that staff, which might mean Jedi Master Luke Skywalker doesn’t think she’s ready for lightsaber training just yet.

Moving on, director of The Last Jedi, Rian Johnson, has been tweeting some interesting info regarding the film. First, when asked how much digital he used when filming and why, he had this to say:

Johnson also confirmed a number of transition wipes he used in The Last Jedi:

Knowing Lucas used a large number of transition wipes in his Star Wars films was one thing, but I had no idea The Phantom Menace had a grand total of 55. Regardless, we’re sure Rian Johnson has complete control over the artistic value of The Last Jedi and we cannot wait to see what he does with Luke Skywalker’s story.
