New photo of Rey from The Last Jedi surfaced during Force Friday II

In light of Force Friday II weekend, a new image of Rey from Star Wars: The Last Jedi has been leaked and we the fans are, of course, ecstatic.

Rey is a Force favorite, for good reason. Her inexplicable relationship to the Force closely mirrors that of both Luke and Anakin Skywalker, placing her amongst some of the most powerful and celebrated heroes of the Star Wars universe.  Her struggle filled past, her willingness to sacrifice her own plans (waiting for her family on Jakku) for the sake of the greater good, her bravery in the face of great danger. These things make her a hero worth admiring, and we can’t wait to see what she does in The Last Jedi.

In that vein, a new image of Rey for The Last Jedi surfaced on Twitter, giving fans another early glimpse into the highly-anticipated film.

The photo features Rey on Ahch-to wielding the lightsaber that once belonged to two great Jedi: Luke and Anakin. The outfit she is sporting is a cross between her original costume and the one we see at the end of The Force Awakens when she first finds Luke darkly and moodily staring at the horizon.

Rey looks determined in this photo. Is she sparring with Luke as a part of her training? Is she preparing to vanquish a foe? We don’t know yet, but I, for one, am pumped to find out in three months. What we do know based on this picture is that Rey will be bringing the same determination and ferocity that she brought in The Force Awakens. Based on that knowledge, we can be confident that she will be successful in whatever manner of training Luke is offering her.
