Iden Versio and Inferno Squad will take on a mission for the Emperor’s revenge in Star Wars Battlefront II…

Star Wars Battlefront II will provide Star Wars fans with a gaming experience like never before, battling across 18 different worlds, choosing between fan-favorite heroes and villains, and an offline arcade mode. There will also be several multiplayer options, as well as the highly anticipated story of Iden Versio, which will help fill those major gaps between Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens.

Before crossing enemy lines with Versio, be sure to read the Star Wars novel Inferno Squad by Christie Golden, which is a prequel to the canon story-line mode in Battlefront II.

As a follow-up to the full-trailer, EA and Lucasfilm released a clip from the first-player canon story, featuring Iden Versio of Inferno Squad:

Right off the bat, we are taken through the lens of Versio, who learns from her father (and commanding officer) that Emperor Palpatine perished during the Battle of Endor. A sentinel droid contains a prerecorded holo-message of Emperor Palpatine with instructions for the survivors:

"Admiral Versio, operation Cinder is to begin at once. Resistance, rebellion, defiance, these are concepts that cannot be allowed to persist. You are one but of many tools by which the ideas shall be burned away."

This is not the first time we see the Emperor relay messages via these crimson droids. In fact, they make their first appearance in the Shattered Empire comic, which seems to take place simultaneously with the events of Battlefront II, or close to it.

The Emperor also relays messages this route in the Aftermath trilogy, where we learn that his intention is not to save the Empire, but in fact destroy it following his death.

Versio states, prior to the message, the method on how to defeat the Alliance is by crushing their hope. This smile by the character says it all, displaying her disgust and contempt for the rebel scum.
