If you were hoping to see Lando Calrissian in Star Wars: The Last Jedi then we’ve got some bad news for you…
What better place in Star Wars: The Last Jedi for an old space pirate like Lando Calrissian, the best gambling man in the galaxy, than on the casino world of Canto Bight. However, sadly as it may be to report, director Rian Johnson tells Entertainment Weekly that he will not, in fact, be in the film.
"No, and I don’t want fans to get their hopes up. He’s not in the film and it was never really something that came up. I mean, I loved that character. It would have been fun to see him, but it’s just not something that ever really had a place in the story."
It’s not so outrageous to hope, pray and believe every rumor of the old swindler being in The Last Jedi, especially since Luke, Leia, Han and Chewie, R2 and Threepio have all made their marks on the new trilogy, but belief simply isn’t enough to bring Lando down from his lofty perch in Cloud City.
And let’s face it, that’s very likely where he really is at this very moment. Chillin’ in a casino back room probably called “Lando’s Lounge,” winning game after game of Sabacc, and just racking up fat stacks of credits, having Lobot instantly invest those winnings into his IRA (because, you know, he’s old and retired), and then winning some more.

Because he’s Lando gottdam Calrissian, and he does what he wants…except appearing in The Last Jedi, apparently.
