With Solo: A Star Wars Story coming to theaters this May, another Star Wars character could get the stand-alone treatment…

Fans are anxiously awaiting any shred of news about Solo: A Star Wars Story. At the same time, hope for a standalone movie about Obi-Wan Kenobi is continuing to build towards Lightspeed levels of hype.

There is no doubt that Obi-Wan Kenobi is one of the most beloved characters of the Star Wars franchise. With a pivotal role in Episodes I-VI, extensive screen time in the Clone Wars animated television show, and even a presence in Star Wars: Rebels, Kenobi has become a favorite among fans of all ages.

Here are the top 5 reasons why we need an Obi-Wan Kenobi standalone film set between Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope, where we hope these Obi-Wan rumors come to fruition.

5. 20-Year Time Gap

A period of approximately 20 years separates the beginning of A New Hope from the end of Revenge of the Sith. Frankly, that’s a lot of time for Obi-Wan Kenobi, who is patiently watching over Luke Skywalker on Tatooine, to have a few adventures.

Sure, Kenobi’s primary concern was protecting Luke, at least from afar. But 20 years of nothing but staring at the Lars homestead would drive a man insane. Obi-Wan likely slipped away, either off-planet or to a nearby hive of scum and villainy, for some action.
