The Last Jedi’s BB-8 was the cutest presenter at the 90th annual Academy Awards
The Last Jedi cast presented an award at the 90th annual Academy Awards Ceremony!
The Oscars are always fun to watch. What a fabulous, glamorous night! I love watching it for so many reasons: the dazzling fashion, the powerful messages, and the fun and engaging presenters. This year was an extra special treat as we got to watch the stars of Star Wars: The Last Jedi Mark Hammill, Kelly Marie Tran, and Oscar Isaac present the awards for Best Animated Feature Film and Best Animated Short Film at the Oscars. My fangirl heart swelled as the three walked out to the Star Wars theme and took center stage as BB-8 appeared from offstage beeping and whirring.
As always, Mark Hammill brought the sass as he announced this year’s winners. He started off by saying how excited he was to be presenting at the Oscars but how he was also there to pick up his monthly check from the “Jedi pension plan” which he claims never ends. As he opened the envelope for Best Animated Short he mumbled under his breath “Don’t say La La Land, don’t say La La Land” recalling the fiasco from last year where the wrong name was called for Best Picture, which had the crowd rolling.
HOLLYWOOD, CA – MARCH 04: (L-R) Actors Oscar Isaac, Mark Hamill and Kelly Marie Tran walk onstage during the 90th Annual Academy Awards at the Dolby Theatre at Hollywood
Kelly Marie Tran was as spunky and lovely as usual, effortlessly bantered with both Mark and Isaac. Oh, and can we all just take a moment to appreciate how devastatingly debonair Oscar Isaac looked in his tuxedo? I mean… alright, moving right along.
As engaging and delightful as the three actors were, BB-8 stole the show with his cute little whistles and beeps as he helped his co-stars make the announcements. When asked why BB-8 was so on point that evening, Mark Hammill reminded his colleagues that BB-8 was the only one who showed up to rehearsals. What a diligent little droid!
