Star Wars: Always the ‘Ham’, Mark Hamill gets a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame

Luke Skywalker himself, Mark Hamill, receives a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and does so in epic Star Wars style.

There’s been an awakening on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Have you felt it? Surrounded by friends and family, Mark Hamill received the prestigious honor of getting his own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame yesterday. Hamill, who is most widely known for playing the iconic role of Luke Skywalker in the Star Wars saga, was introduced in the most fitting way possible.

He was flanked by stormtroopers and got introduced by both Harrison Ford and George Lucas. Even R2-D2 got in a few beeps for good measure.

Always a good sport, Hamill pokes fun at himself …

Both Ford and Hamill gave emotional recollections of their time together filming the original trilogy and of getting together for their last Star Wars ride more than 30 years after the original films debuted. It was a laugh-filled ceremony as Ford opened with a dig on Hamill:

"“Wow, there’s a lot more people that showed up for my star, a lot more.”"

And even Hamill couldn’t resist making a joke at his own expense:

"“I haven’t been this speechless since Force Awakens.”"

Still, there was something missing…

During his introduction of Hamill, Ford also paid tribute to the late Carrie Fisher.

"“When thinking about today, I was really sorry that we don’t have the other member of our trio here to celebrate with us.”"

”But I feel her presence.”

It was a somber reminder that we’ll never see the trio together again, but it was touching to know that both Ford and Hamill forever hold Carrie Fisher in their hearts.

Always a fan at heart…

Hamill also lauded Ford for his own achievements in film. Hamill has always been a fan of both film and pop culture, a fandom he wears on his sleeve. He has always revered the time he spent working on Star Wars, and although he didn’t become as large of a star as Ford on screen he certainly made up for it behind the scenes. Hamill will go down as one of the greatest voice actors of his time – most notably for bringing the Joker to life in Batman the Animated Series.

Hamill thanks the fans, and gives one last laugh…

Hamill ended the speech with his signature Joker laugh, but not without first showing the fans some love as well.
