May the Fourth be with you! Let’s share our top four reasons why it’s great to be a Star Wars fan again and what better day to do then on Star Wars Day!
Its been an up and down year for you if you’re a Star Wars fan. Star Wars Rebels reaches its conclusion after four great seasons. The Last Jedi either blew your mind, or you were seriously disappointed.
Then, rumors of a Han Solo origins movie we weren’t sure we wanted, were all bad. But on Star Wars Day, all is right with the galaxy.
So why is it great to be a fan of the greatest franchise, you ask? Let me give you my top four reasons, in no particular order, why a galaxy far, far away reigns supreme.
Celebrating Star Wars Day/May the Fourth be with You:
A new film a year makes everyone cheer!
Let’s face it, for all the talk that Disney and Lucasfilm is maybe oversaturating the market with new films, that for the most part is a bogus complaint. Anyone remember that nice long gap between Return of the Jedi and The Phantom Menace where we pretty much thought we’d never see another new film. Or the stretch between Revenge of the Sith and The Force Awakens?
Live action movies are the reason why we fell in love with the series in the first place. And there’s no better place to watch Star Wars than on the big screen.
Sure maybe you weren’t thrilled with one of the new episodes in the saga, but you have to think eventually one of these movies will strike a nerve with you. While the anthology films help piece together some of the galaxy’s history we haven’t seen and maybe only read bits and pieces about in the old Expanded Universe. Essentially what’s we’re getting is a more cohesively told story, with easier dots to connect.
Most importantly of all, Lucasfilm has a great leadership group led by Kathleen Kennedy. She’s certainly making sure to add great filmmakers and storytellers to the Star Wars mix. Even if you don’t like individual characters or the direction they’ve gone, you can’t argue that the movies have been well produced and are wildly entertaining.
Plus, Kathleen Kennedy hasn’t been afraid to step in and make changes when these films are not living up to Lucasfilm’s high standards.
