The first love of Han Solo was not the Millennium Falcon, but another lover. *WARNING – THIS POST CONTAINS SPOILERS FOR SOLO: A STAR WARS STORY – -TURN BACK NOW – YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED*
Before there was Leia, there was one love in the life of Han Solo, the Millennium Falcon. But, before the Millennium Falcon was the apple of his eye, Han had a love affair with a different, but a familiar ship.
As first reported by Star Wars Leaks, this particular vessel will be well known by Star Wars fans. The highly successful animated series Star Wars Rebels ended this year much to the displeasure of fans, but one iconic ship from the series lives on in Solo: A Star Wars Story.
In a scene from the film, Han explains that the ship he currently owned is none other than a VCX-100, that’s right folks, the Ghost. The Ghost has become a legend in Star Wars canon since its debut in Star Wars Rebels piloted by Hera.
"VCX-100, the ship Han says he has, is the model of the Ghost from Rebels from StarWarsLeaks"
The fact Han Solo himself piloted the very same type of ship makes a connection like no other in Star Wars lore.
Star Wars films are known for their Easter eggs, so seeing such a beloved ship in Solo: A Star Wars Story should come as no surprise. But having the self-proclaimed greatest pilot at the helm makes it even more interesting.
This, however, is not the last time Han encounters the VCX-100, as he and Hera have a friendly back and forth about which ship is the more superior. Both ships are impressive in their own right.
Ironically, Forces of Destiny shows that Han Solo and Hera know one another — with the Millennium Falcon and the Ghost side by side — seen in the video above. The story group at Lucasfilm is the best!
Next: Solo wins the Falcon playing Sabacc, but what exactly is it?
My guess is if Han Solo had never won the Falcon from Lando, we very well would have seen the VCX-100 being chased by the Empire in future films. Ron Howard did an impressive job paying homage to a fan favorite like the Ghost. Hera, Ezra, and the crew couldn’t be prouder.
Solo: A Star Wars Story is playing in theaters, worldwide — where you can see the Millennium Falcon in all of her glory!
