2. Han Solo – Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope

So I bet a lot of you were expecting Han Solo to claim the No. 1 spot, but I am afraid it is not to be. Han could only clinch second place.

You will see why later and I am sure you will agree with me, but let’s talk about Han and his introduction in Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope.

We met Han at Mos Eisley spaceport on Tatooine in a Cantina bar. Luke and Old Ben were looking for a ship and Han had offered his services, for a price of course. That part isn’t that exciting really; it is the next part that is.

Yeah, you know what is coming. Han vs. Greedo.

Greedo, a bounty hunter, shows up because Han has a big old bounty on his head after a deal with Jabba had gone wrong. Greedo, who thinks he has the upper hand, tries to take advantage of Han. Unbeknown to him, Han, who is looking as cool as chips with his feet up on the table looking pretty relaxed has upholstered his blaster and takes Greedo out with a single shot. Han presumes to then get up and walk out of the bar, tossing the bartender some cash and apologizing for the mess, a.k.a. the dead Greedo at the table.

More: Han Solo shot first!

This wonderful, quick draw shootout, pretty much waved a big old message to every single Star Wars fan saying, ‘Hey, this guy! Supposed to be a side character, but you are going to love him more and want to be him more than anyone else!”

Han was supposed to be nothing more than a supporting character, but he became so much more. He even got his own movie, and it all stemmed from the moment he was introduced.
