14. Baze Malbus – Rogue One: A Star Wars Story
Up next to claim the No. 14 spot is Baze Malbus, also from Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. Once a Guardian of Whills, Baze is nothing more than a crack shot with a heavy repeater cannon who has been forced to roam the streets of Jedha thanks to the Empire’s hostile occupation of the city.
You probably already know this but wherever Baze is, you can probably find Chirrut Imwe is not too far away. (hint, hint, wink, wink). That might even be the case with this list…
The two are pretty much inseparable throughout Rogue One. Always having each other’s back, the bond between the two is pretty special and we get that impression from the very moment we are introduced to them.
Baze’s introduction occurs on the streets of Jedha after Jyn Eryso and Cassian ended up getting captured by a group of Stormtroopers. Chirrut is the one to step up and help out and he does a pretty good job by himself, more on that scene later.
Reinforcements arrive however and as soon as they do, they immediately drop dead after a wall of blaster bolts is fired their way. But by who? We didn’t get to see who fired them; our point of view was from the shooter.
Cue new camera angle and Baze is now in focus staring down the sights of his heavy repeater cannon. He then emerges forward, surveying the scene, before firing another single shot into a surviving Stormtroopers head, sending a very clear message about the character.
He has no love for the empire, he will do anything to help his friend and has no issues with getting his hands dirty. Basically, don’t mess with Baze Malbus.
