Veteran Star Wars actor Mark Hamill has joined the cast of Knightfall for its second season.

Mark Hamill is keeping busy these days. He was announced as joining the cast of Star Wars Episode IX – even though his character seemingly died in The Last Jedi. Now, Variety reported he will appear in the second season of Knightfall.

The news of Mark Hamill joining Knightfall comes just as History also announced the series is coming back for a second season.

Knightfall is not about the Jedi Knights – it is the History channel after all. The show is about the Knights of Templar. Variety reports Hamill will play Talus, a Knights of Templar vet.

More from Mark Hamill

"“Star Wars” vet Mark Hamill will play the role of Talus, a battle-hardened Knight Templar veteran of the Crusades who survived captivity for ten years in the Holy Land and is tasked with training the new initiates to the Order."

Sure, it’s not Star Wars, but this role sounds a lot like the Luke Skywalker we haven’t gotten to know in the Star Wars realm. After Return of the Jedi, Luke Skywalker’s life was largely a mystery until The Force Awakens. We learned Luke grew the Jedi order, taking in those who were Force sensitive and training them in the way of the Jedi.

Hamill is not one to be type cast, especially considering his tremendous roles as Joker and The Trickster throughout his career.

Knightfall will be interesting to watch from a historical perspective, but also we could imagine a bit what the teacher Luke Skywalker would be like before his entire world crumbled around him.

Along with the new of Mark Hamill joining the cast, History announced two other actors joining with Tom Forbes and Genevieve Gaunt. No date has been announced yet for the start of the second season, but expect it some time later this year.
