Today, we’re picking out the top 25 most influential characters across Star Wars.

It’s easy to get lost in the Star Wars universe. George Lucas created a world that has infinite limits. Another planet with new characters can always pop up, which leaves the door open for many stories.

Since 1977, people have been immersed in this world, and for good reason. Today we’re looking at some of the most influential characters in the story, but before we get started, there are a couple of things to cover.

First, what do we mean by “influential”? It could be influence on the plot — some characters loom larger in the story than others — or influence in the real world, whether because the character has become iconic, oft-quoted, or something else. We’ll mix and match depending on the character.

This list will include characters from both the dark and light sides of the universe, from the Empire and the First Order, from the Rebellion or the Resistance. You don’t have to be good to be influential.

There are a lot of characters who could have made this list, but didn’t. Some big names were left off because there were just so many to choose from and I wanted a decent representation.
