There are several Star Wars comics in print currently touching across different spans of the saga.

This week, two new Star Wars comics came out continuing the story of Darth Vader and Doctor Aphra.

Darth Vader has been one of the most fascinating reads for Star Wars comics fans. It features insight into the Sith Lord as he combats Rebels, Jedi and others trying to take down the Galactic Empire.

This week’s issue features the second part of Fortress Vader with the comics starting out by telling readers that most of the remaining Jedi have been destroyed or have gone into deep hiding. Now, Vader has to find new targets.

But first, he has to rid the universe of the current enemies of the empire.

For Star Wars fans, they will find a couple of key moments tying the Darth Vader comic to the prequels.

Here’s how Marvel Comics describes Darth Vader #20:

"‘FORTRESS VADER,’ PART TWO!A thief faces the consequences for their crime.EMPEROR PALPATINE rewards DARTH VADER with three gifts.A thing, a choice and a voice."

Doctor Aphra #23

Doctor Aphra isn’t a character we know from the movies. She’s a new character who has lived in the comics, and has become popular in her own right. What makes Aphra compelling is she lives on either side of the line – it all depends on what is best for her.

In issue #23, Aphra is in a bit of a bind after her first attempt to escape Accresker Jail was foiled between problems with her current and former flames. But some of Aphra’s problems are her own as she has her eyes on a pricey treasure, which she can’t let go.

Here’s how Marvel Comics describes Doctor Aphra #23:

"GOOD NEWS: THE IMPERIALS HAVE ABANDONED ACCRESKER JAIL. BAD NEWS: FIRST THEY SHOT IT AT A REBEL PLANET.For unscrupulous inmate DOCTOR APHRA, accompanied by former flame SANA STARROS and current flame INSPECTOR TOLVAN…(NB: Awkward.)…chances to escape are dwindling fast. Good thing Aphra’s not distracted by an expensive relic, right?Oh, dear."

Marvel Comics’ Darth Vader and Doctor Aphra are available in stores now.
