4: Darth Vader – Star Wars: A New Hope

For a very long time, I never thought I needed a Darth Vader stand alone film. However, that is no longer the case.

You see Darth Vader was a character that never really needed to be on the screen much to leave a lasting impression. It was actually one of the things that made his character so interesting from the moment he was introduced in Star Wars: A New Hope. He was barely ever on-screen, but when he was, you knew something amazing was about to happen.

This is why I never thought we would need a stand alone film. I always thought that if we got more Vader we would lose some of the appeal that made him so great.

However, what changed my mind were a couple of things. First of all, for all the movie buffs, I refer you to Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. Now just try to tell me that end scene with Vader dropping Rebel soldiers as if he was swatting flies didn’t leave you gobsmacked. I honestly sat there in the theatres in complete shock and awe at what I just watched after that scene.

Now imagine that, but in full movie form.

Still think it won’t work? Not sure if there is enough material to work with?

Then I refer you to the comic books about Darth Vader. If you have never picked up a Star Wars comic before, I highly recommended any one of the Darth Vader comics. They are beyond a doubt, packed from start to finish, with jaw-dropping storylines exactly like the ending to Rogue One. You could pretty much pick any one of them and turn it into a stand alone film.
