Will Han Solo appear in Star Wars: Episode IX?
Will one of Star Wars most important characters appear in Star Wars: Episode IX? Han Solo may appear, but probably only in flashbacks.
Han Solo is one of the most important characters in the Star Wars franchise, but it seems for the last episode of the Skywalker Saga, he may not appear.
As beloved as he is, J.J. Abrams and company killed Han Solo in The Force Awakens in a truly sobering way, with Kylo Ren a.k.a Ben Solo killing his father when he had a chance to go home. Han Solo wasn’t in The Last Jedi either, but his presence was truly felt especially when Luke gave Leia the dice from the Millennium Falcon in their final “meeting.”
We already discussed IF Han Solo were to return how he would do that with a number of different theories floating around from an outlandish one that Solo fell through Starkiller’s core and lived after being rescued to the more plausible of appearing in flashbacks.

Star Wars has been using flashbacks a lot lately, which is no sign that it would happen in Star Wars: Episode IX, but it has been a theme that has shown up a lot as of late.
And there is nothing more potent than nostalgia.
The use of flashback was briefly used in The Last Jedi with Luke Skywalker and Kylo Ren talking about that fateful night. In the latest Poe Dameron Annual #2, Han Solo has a flashback of his important moments with Leia, which included the birth of their son.
We also have the spin-off of Han Solo’s origin story coming out this month, which could be considered one big bite of nostalgia. It featured callback moments, showed how Han Solo got his name, how he met Chewbacca and just what led him to Tatooine in the first place.

At this point, there is no indication Han Solo will appear in Star Wars: Episode IX. At least there wouldn’t be any new scenes shot as of right now especially considering Harrison Ford was just seen in California.
Unfortunately, it doesn’t look good for Han Solo in Star Wars: Episode IX, but with so much that needs to be tied up in the final installment, he would be added just for nostalgia’s sake.
Star Wars: Episode IX is scheduled to hit theaters December 20, 2019.
