Stranger Things star Gaten Matarazzo says he’s waiting on his call for a Star Wars movie.
Gaten Matarazzo, star of Stranger Things, has thought about a role in a Star Wars movie. He said at Salt Lake City’s FanX convention that he’s “obsessed” with Star Wars, according to comicbook.com. When asked if a potential Star Wars role was coming, he said “I want to know that too. I’m not kidding.”
Matarazzo has become an incredible, easily recognizable star for his work as Dustin Henderson on Netflix’s Stranger Things. The actor got his start on Broadway, appearing in Les Miserables, but has become a household name on one of Netflix’s premiere shows. Matarazzo’s character on the show is known for his witty comments and charm; he’s also known to get himself into trouble, whether that be from his mouth or his crew’s regular run-ins with monsters.

With Stranger Things becoming a huge show, and Matarazzo becoming a huge name, it’s conceivable to see his next role coming in a major film like Star Wars. And it seems like Matarazzo is already thinking of the possibility.
The actor could add some levity and youth to Star Wars in one film or another. The Untitled Episode IX has had several high-profile castings already, from The American’s Keri Russell to Matt Smith of Doctor Who fame. Matarazzo wouldn’t even need to appear in that film, which will have old and new characters to develop and would likely not give Matarazzo the bigger role he can handle. But it’s good to know that the Stranger Things star is interested in the franchise.
Projects like the David Benioff and D.B. Weiss trilogy or the Rian Johnson trilogy could use Matarazzo if they wanted to go in a youthful direction. And Matarazzo has shown he’s able to shine in the science fiction genre already, something a future Star Wars star could need.
And, possibly, he just gets a nice little cameo in a future film, like Star Wars has become infamous for.
It’s worth noting that Matarazzo even attended the premiere for The Last Jedi last December, possibly sewing the seeds for his interest in the franchise.
