Generations upon generations of fans have become Star Wars fans because of the films. Well, mostly the previous few generations became fans because of the films, and younger generations were indoctrinated through sheer force of will and good parenting. The prequel trilogy hooked many others, and the current trilogy is working on young Padawans at the current moment.
